A Practicum Experience

In the Classroom

My first practicum was in a Grade 2/3 class at David Thompson Elementary School.  These are examples of some of the lessons I taught the students. I was working under Mrs. Morrison, she is an amazing teacher and I am grateful to have learned from her. My Teacher Mentor used a lot of technology in her practice and made the environment fun and engaging for the students. I plan on using some of the ideas she shared with me, especially her classroom management techniques. My goal is to see the students smiling during their time at school while learning through classroom games and collaboration of learning through peers and offering effective guidance while also establishing guidelines, and routines, while encouraging students and giving lots of praise.

A friend and I thinking outside the box and trying some activated charcoal ice cream. In my practice, students will be encouraged to think innovatively and explore new ways while also staying true to tradition.

Work from the student’s Education and Health class

This was an activity the students created on a Lesson of Indigenous Poetry for Language Arts. The students made these cards and wrote a poem on the inside of the card. For a look at the lesson see the course work tab.

Language Arts Activity where students work on spelling using beads.

This is a Language Arts activity using scrabble tiles to spell words.
