The community-based initiative Project Idea
This idea is to address a contemporary challenge of improving the mental health of school ages children ages 5-13 in the Kamloops Region. I will propose my Initiative project to target support from school district 73, Skelep School of Excellence, as well as seek the support of Interior Metis Child and Family Services and Lii Michif Otipemisiwak (LMO). The presentation will seek support for the project on Improving the mental health of children, and community members of children and their families. Reaching out to the schools for support of implementing the In-school sessions and Interior Metis Child and Family Services as well as LMO for the help of support workers, counsellors and space. This would be a non-profit, so I’d reach out for Non-Profit government funding pots as well as, these service providers to partner up. The supporters would be actively involved by either referring students, allowing students to voluntarily attend sessions while in the school and then during after school hours and weekends the service providers would be asked to offer space for the sessions either while their offices are open or after-hour access to the facilities.
